PRODUCTION OF CELLULOSIC FIBER HAVING MODIFIED DYEABILITY

PURPOSE:To obtain modified cellulosic fibers capable of ionic bonding to the anionic dyes, by polymerizing a monomer having a quaternary amine and an unsaturated double bond within cellulosic fibers. CONSTITUTION:A monomer having a quaternary amine and an unsaturated double bond is polymerized in knitted or woven cellulose fabrics by immersing and heating the fabrics in an a queous solution thereof containing a polymerization initiator. The amount of the amine introduced into the fibers must be >=5 meq/kg fiber, and preferably 50-400 meq/kg fiber from the standpoint of the dyeability and strength retention.
