PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer sheet having a sufficient adhesion between a mat layer and a substrate, by a method wherein the mat layer contains silica powders being surface-treated with silicone. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer sheet having a mat layer and a hot melt ink layer successively provided on a substrate, the mat layer contains silica powders surface-treated with silicone. The silica particle is preferably the order of 0.1-3mum in particle diameter. Such a surface treating method of the silica particles with silicone as the silica is dipped in a 2% carbon tetrachloride solution in silicone and baked at 300 deg.C for 5min after being air-dried is employed. As a binder for forming the mat layer by binding the silica particles with a plastic film to be used as the substrate, thermoplastic resins such as polyvinyl chloride acetate copolymer and ethyl cellulose, heat-curable resins such as unsated. polyester resin and epoxy resin, and the like can be used. |
