PURPOSE:To obtain the specified focus signal corresponding to the subject distance by adding the signal produced in response to the maximum peak level of the correlation signal obtained during the scanning period prior to the correlation signal obtained from a correlation circuit to said correlation signal. CONSTITUTION:The subject luminous fluxes from a stationary mirror 4 and a scanning mirror 5 are supplied via photoelectric elements 2, 3 to a correlation circuit 7, which in turn generates the correlation signal having a peak level. Next, the maximum peak level of this signal is stored in a capacitor 20 and is then passed through the focusing signal generating circuit 8 which obtains the focus signal by adding the clock pulse signal during the scanning of the scanning mirror 5 to this signal, whereby the focusing lens is controlled. As a result, the contrast of the subject itself is weak and even when the detection of the peak level of the correlation signal is difficult, the focusing lens may be moved and controlled up to the specfied position and the distance measurement infeasibility condition may be averted. |
