<p>The pump is for controlling the rate of intravenous feeding of nutrients or blood transfusing. It has a series of rollers mounted on a wheel which is rotated at a variable speed. A standard IV tube is position between the rollers and a spring mounted stator. As the rollers pass over the tube, the fluid inside is forced through it. The speed control for the pump is marked with a scale graduated in hours and three divisions each representing one of three standard sizes of drip container so the rate of transfusion can readily be selected.</p> |
