<p>PURPOSE: To reduce weight and cost of a piston for disc brake caliper due to the omission of coarse grinding process by drawing a metal sheet to form a dome-shaped bottom. CONSTITUTION: A piston for disc brake caliper 9 is formed with its bottom 1 being shaped into a dome by drawing a metal sheet. Since bottom 1 is shaped to a dome, it can be formed thinner and lighter than conventional art due to its being subjected to a compressive stress and a bending stress within an extremely limited range. Further, since a strict dimensional tolerance is obtained by the drawing, the coarsely grinding process can be omitted thus realizing the production at low price.</p> |
