<p>The folding door has two or more vertically elongated rectangular leaves (5, 6, 7) connected by hinge fittings (8, 8a) at adjacent vertical edges, strap hinges (9) being used to mount one end on a frame post (1b). The door is opened by sliding the penultimate hinge (8) in a direction (F2) parallel to the major door plane, the ultimate hinge (8a) simultaneously moving (F1) perpendicularly away from the door plane in a circular path. The strap hinges may locate the hinge axis (9a) on the external edge of the frame to ensure that the retracted door clears the opening, and the door may incorporate three inter-articulating leaves with a separate side hung leaf (3) on the remote frame post (1a).</p> |
