PURPOSE:To fulfill the reduction of the volume of transmission data and the economization of a terminal display unit at the same time. CONSTITUTION:Character codes outputted from information processor 2 are stored in memory circuit 11, and it is decided whether each character code expresses foreign language or not; when not, it is converted into a character code fixed in this system and sent out to modulator 3. When it expresses foreign language, on the other hand, a foreign-language code is sent to foreign-language pattern generator 13 for conversion into foreign-language pattern data, which is given by control code addition circuit 14 and sent to modulator 3. Modulator 3 converts input character codes, control codes and foreign-language pattern data into an adequate transmission signal form and sends then to terminal equipment 4 via transmission circuit 9. Terminal display unit 7, when character patterns are sent from center equipment 1, displays character patterns as they are and character codes if sent are converted into corresponding character patterns by character pattern generator 8 in unit 4 and then displayed.
