<p>Laminated semi-finished or finished articles e.g. panels, strips, fittings, tubes, pipes, drums, containers, comprises a metal base coated with firmly adhering polymeric material. The coating is a multi-ply coating comprising alternating layers of hard and soft rubber, opt. with thermoplastics or duroplast top ply. Pref. the ply nearest the metal base is a hard rubber, a self-vulcanising blend of natural or synthetic elastomers or a soft rubber. Suitably each rubber ply is 0.5-8 mm. thick, and there are 2-8 such plies. When there are 5 rubber plies, and the ply adjacent the base, and the third and fourth plies are of hard rubber (Shore-D-hardness 65-85), whilst the second and fourth plies are of soft rubber (Shore-A-hardness 40-70).</p> |
