Tandem master cylinder with brake force regulator - has regulator valve kept open in event of front axle brake failure

A pressure chamber is bounded by one end of a pressure piston and is coupled to a front-axle brake circuit in use of the master cylinder. A second pressure chamber is connected to a regulator input of the regulator, the regulator being adjacent the other boundary of the first pressure chamber. A regulator output is coupled to a rear-axle brake circuit in use of the master cylinder. At least one stepped piston is loaded by a control spring, a regulator valve. An extension of the first pressure piston and the regulator valve mechanically actuate the regulator valve by the first pressure piston to maintain the regulator valve open upon failure of the front-axle brake circuit.
