The dumpling, pasta or other dry food mix is shaped and/or cooked in a device comprising at least two interconnected partially water-permeable moulds of which each is comprises of two mould halves i.e the lower part (2, 10) and the easily separated upper part (5, 11). The moulds which can be made of plastics are pref. spherical and allow different or the same food to be produced in similar shapes. The moulds can have different sizes and can be enclosed by a ring (6) which allows easy handling.
