The end of the container pipe which fits into the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece is provided with a locking member (19) which is aligned parallel with the axis of the pipe (16). There is a detent cam (23) and a moulded recess (18) in the pipe (16). The actuating area of the locking member is provided with a releasable press button (25). An upright web (21) of the recess (18) in the connector pipe passes with play through the bore (20) in the end of the locking member to hold the latter in position. The lock when worn can be readily replaced without having to fit a complete new connector pipe.
