PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of pickling process by water cooling the hot rolled coils under the specific conditions to suppress the scale of the edges and central part to the same amount. CONSTITUTION:Water cooling is started from the plural water injection nozzles 3 provided above and below a conveyor 1 which conveys the hot-rolled steel plate coils having been coiled at coiling temperatures within a range from 650 to 750 deg.C in hot rolling to a cooling yard within 60 minutes after coiling. The cooling is accomplished under the water cooling conditions wherein the water cooling time (t) and cooling water volume (Q) per one side of coil end faces satisfy formula 1 to suppress the amount of scale formation at the strip edges and strip center part to about the same amount. |
