ORGANIC ELECTROLYTE LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE:To obtain excellent performance without use of an arsenic compound as an electrolyte by previously immersing a lithium negative electrode in an organic electrolyte containing lithium hexafluoroarsenate, or by previously conducting charge-discharge. CONSTITUTION:A battery consists of a lithium negative electrode 3 previously immersed in an electrolyte prepared by dissolving lithium hexafluoroarsenate in an organic solvent or previously charge-discharged, a positive electrode 1, and an organic electrolyte. A combined film of arsenic and oxygen is formed on the negative lithium, and lithium ions can move through the film even if charge-discharge is repeated without breakage of the film. Excellent charge- discharge cycle life is obtained without containing an arsenic compound in the electrolyte.
