PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus for minimizing vibration of engine, comprising a couple of balance shafts disposed on the opposite sides of crank shaft and a couple of balance weights formed on respective balance shafts in the same direction, wherein said couple of balance weights are turned with rotation of the crank shaft at the same period but in opposite directions to each other, whereby it is enabled to attenuate vibration of engine in vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:A couple of balance shafts 3a, 3b are provided on the opposite sides of crank shaft 2, and balance weights 4a, 4b facing in the same direction are formed on respective balance shafts 3a, 3b. These two balance weights 4a, 4b are turned with rotation of crank shaft 2 at the same period but in opposite directions to each other. With such an arrangement, as the balance weights 4a, 4b are turned from position A in the drawing where two balance weights both face outwards and their vectors are exerted in opposite directions to each other to position B where their vectors are exerted in upward direction, vibration of engine 1 in downward direction can be cancelled. On the other hand, as the balance weights are turned from position C to position D shown in the drawing, vibration of engine 1 in the direction can be cancelled. Thus, it is enabled to attenuate vibration of engine 1 in both of upward and downward directions. |
