The heat exchanger for two fluids has closed cylindrical vessel with tubes for the fluids. All inlets and outlets are fitted into the cover of the vessel. The heat exchanger can be used at high operating temperatures and pressures. The tubes run from the cover (2) in the vicinity of the vessel wall towards the vessel bottom. They are turned there towards the vessel axis and back to the cover where they join the outwards directed manifolds (9, 10). The internal and external parts (6a, 6b) of the tubes are separated by an enclosing shell (3) within the vessel. A cooling coil (18) is provided at the top of the vessel.
