PURPOSE:The character input unit which can efficiently process the selection of characters and input of characters, by drawing a character on the front of the character input plate and the character code cutting off infrared rays at the rear side. CONSTITUTION:A charactr is drawn on the front side A of the character input plate 1 in the ink transmitting infrared rays, and the bar code, for example, the ting pattern 7 consisting of the center pattern 8 and the patterns for addresses A1 to A16 is drawn at the rear side B in the ink not transmitting infrared rays. The light source 2 and the visual light cut filter 3 constitute the light source section 4 transmitting only infrared rays, the infrared rays 4 from the light source section 4 is emitted at the the rear side of the input plate, but only the character figure on the front side can be observed to human eyes. When the character is selected and the light pen 5 approches the character, the infrared rays transmitted with the pattern turning over the pattern code is detected with the light pen. It is inputted to the character code generator 6 to output the character code. |
