The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for bringing together a plurality of cans 1 provided with flange edge 16 or similar rigid objects on a support or holder 2 in that previously produced holders of elastic, plastic material, provided with a corresponding fastening element, are pressed into the flange edge, whereupon the cans, which are brought up in steps in time-regulated sequence in one or more rows are pressed into the holders, and by means of the pistons pressing against the particular can bottom in sequence after each pressing there are introduced shaping punches 5 adapted to the free spaces remaining between the cans into these spaces. The apparatus according to the invention comprises a transport chain with shaping punches which can be introduced into the free spaces between cans placed in one or more rows and with pressing punches 6 adapted to the bottoms of the cans, wherein the shaping punches 5 at their ends away from the cans 1 rest against a first curved rail 4 and the pressing pistons 6 rest against a second curved rail 7. Elements are also arranged for simultaneously bringing up the holder to be filled, and the first curved rail 4 has a platform 10 raised in the direction toward the cans with relatively gentle rise and gentle fall, while the other curved rail 7 has an elevation 12 situated primarily within the region for the platform on the first curved rail, which rises relatively abruptly in the direction toward the cans 1 for a length basically corresponding to the diameter of a can. <IMAGE> |
