摘要 PURPOSE:To make turning of a steering wheel by a driver with a smaller force by allowing the rear wheels to be steered so as to follow the same course as the foregoing vehicle even through he keeps off the steering wheel on the condition that an auto-steering mode setting means is turned on. CONSTITUTION:When auto-steering mode is set by an auto-maneuvering mode setting means 1, a computer unit 2 senses the advancing direction of a foregoing vehicle from output of an advancing direction sensing means 5. The advancing direction of the own car is acknowledged by the output of a rear-wheel steering angle sensing means 10, which is to sense the steering angle of the rear wheels, and a front-wheel steering angle sensing means 6 to sense the steering wheel of the front wheels, which are controlled with turning of steering wheel by the driver. On the basis of the advancing directions of the foregoing vehicle and the own car and its speed given by a car speed sensor 7, the steering timing and the target steering angle of rear wheels which allows the own car to follow the same course as the foregoing vehicle are calculated, and a rear-wheel steering mechanism 4 is controlled on the basis of the result from calculations.
