To provide high-power low- voltage DC supplies, from AC mains, the mains are rectified (60) and drive a transistorized DC to DC converter comprising a plurality of DC to AC inverters 63, 64, with their outputs connected in series to feed a common rectifying and smoothing stage 61. The inverters produce a frequency much higher than mains frequency to reduce the size of their power transformers T1, T2. The power transformers may each have two secondaries which are mutually connected in series or in parallel as is necessary to provide the required value of output from the converter. <IMAGE> |
