PURPOSE:To readily produce the permanent magnet of superior strength and magnetic performance by kneading thermosetting organic resins as a binder to magnetic powder composed of the intermetallic compound of rare earth metals and Co and press molding the mixture. CONSTITUTION:Rare earth metals such as Sm, Y, Ce, La, Pr, mischmetal, etc. and Co are melted in a high frequency furnace in Ar atmosphere, whereby the intermetallic compound of rare earth metals and Co is produced. After cooling and freezing, it is ground to sizes of 5 to 20mu. Thermosetting organic resins of 100 to 20000 cp in viscosity are added at 4 to 6% as a binder to this powder and the mixture is kneaded. The mixture is press molded with a magnetic field press and the molding is heated to 150 deg.C to solidify. The permanent magnet which is free from any flaws, is highly strong and has stable magnetic performance is obtained. |
