<p>PURPOSE:To raise the overall thermal efficiency and reduce the total cost, by using waste gas instead of air for other combustion equipment and effectively utilizing the nitrogen oxides, and latent and sensible heat of the waste gas. CONSTITUTION:The waste gas from a sintering furnace is used instead of air for a boiler 2 and supplied together with fuel thereto through a heat exchanger 1. The thermal efficiency of the boiler 2 is greatly raised by the latent and sensible heat of carbon monoxide of the waste gas and the heat of the gas itself. The nitrogen oxides of the waste gas supplied to the boiler 2 are reduced by the carbon monoxide of the gas when the fuel is burned. Nitrogen oxides resulting from the combustion of the fuel is also reduced by the carbon monoxide. Air is supplied as a secondary burning oxygen source to the boiler 2 through a heat exchanger 3 to effect incomplete combustion and two-stage combustion in the boiler. As a result, the carbon monoxide concentration is increased to accelerate the reduction of the nitrogen oxides.</p> |
