<p>A circular saw blade (4) is swung downwards on an arm (3) to cut through the piece of wood (6). A guard (7) to protect the operator, is crescent shaped and swings about the same axis (8) as the saw blade (4), being held in position by the tension spring (9). A lever (16) has its inner end attached to a cord (14) which is wound around a boss (12) forming part of the guard (7). When the lever (18) is pulled forwards, in order to bring the saw blade (4) on to the workpiece (6), it pulls on the cord (14) which rotates the guard (7) clear of the blade (4).</p> |
