The underground mine scraper chain conveyor is particularly for use with a block anchoring system. The anchoring rams are connected between the trough sections and advancing extraction units. The trough sections fold together by means of coupling devices. A spring unit (26) is fitted between each adjacent pair of trough sections (10), counteracting any tendency for them to buckle. These units can be friction-type volute springs thrusting the sections apart, and acting between stops (22) on the trough sides.
