Seat belt retractor blocking mechanism - has pendulum sensor with movement transfer to blocking pin using ball to eliminate friction

The seat belt retractor blocking mechanism eliminates the functional uncertainties caused by friction between moving parts. The sensor of the retractor is a pendulum-type assembly (14) with its upper ring-shaped part suspended from a collar (8) by a wedge-shaped downward protrusion seated in a corresponding notch of the collar. The shift of the pendulum (17) is transmitted to the blocking mechanism working together with a ratchet wheel (5) through a locking pin assembly consisting of housing (24) fitted to the collar and containing a spring loaded locking pin which reaches into the inner space of the collar and engages with the expanding two-part ratchet wheel. Relative movement between the pendulum and the housing (24) takes place through a ball (40) eliminating sliding friction.
