Colour separation negative production uses a laser light illumination of the original so that the emitted wavelength can be controlled and more accurate and finer cut colour separation obtained. Colour filtration of the light source is obviated. The laser light equipment (1, 2, 3, 5, ) is adjustable (3) so that the output wavelength (11) can be selected, then projected through the original (13) onto the film (14). A selector (3) determines the direction of the laser. It can be a deflector grid rotatable about an axis (4). The worm gear (8) can be operated by a positioning motor (9).
