Compsn. for treating hypocalcaemic and hypophosphataemia comprises a mixt. of CaCl2, calcium lactate and calcium laevulinate in quantities sufficient to give a Ca++ content of 7-28g, per 500 to 1000 ml of soln., 10-30% Ca++ supplied by the chloride, 20-60% Ca++ by the lactate and 20-60% by the laevulinate. The Ca++ is rapidly available, continuously available of low toxicity and reduced local irritability and the compsns are stable. A typical compsn. contained 42.2g of calcium lactate, 42.2g of calcium laevulinate and 8.32g of CaCl2 in 1 litre of water. This comprised one i.v. dose for a dairy cow. |
