PURPOSE:To obtain a superconductor having a high critical temp. and high critical current density by melting oxides of Bi, Si, Ca, Cu and Pb or an alloy of the metals, solidifying and heat-treating the resulting melt. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of powders of oxides and/or oxycarbonates of Bi, Sr, Ca, Cu and Pb is melted to prepare an oxide melt having a compsn. satisfying Bi:Sr:Ca:Cu:Pb=(1-x):u:v:y:x (where x=0.1-0.4, y=1.2-2.5, u>=0.5 and v<=1.5) or an alloy of the metals is melted. The resulting melt is solidified by rapid cooling and heat-treated. |
