A winch for two or more cables 18, comprising a cable drum 13 having separate winding sectors 13a-13d, which cable drum is common to the cables, and a drive motor 14. The drive shaft of the drive motor is parallel or coaxial with the bearing axle 20 of the cable drum 13 and is arranged to drive the cable drum 13 by way of a planetary gear 15.
