PROCESS FOR COOLING A POLYMERISATION REACTOR

A process for cooling a polymerization reaction of compounds in dispersion and/or solution in a reactor in which the cooling is effected by evaporation of one or more liquids contained in the reactor, condensation of the vapour in a reflux condenser and recycle of the condensed vapour into the reactor, together with the use of a controllable flow of coolant which is introduced into the reflux condenser jacket. The quantity of heat released on condensation is utilized as the control variable for controlling the coolant inflow to the reflux condenser. Thus, the control system can function virtually without a time lag.
