The arrangement is intended for a lateral slipway. The slipway and/or the ship-supporting slipway trolley is provided with pneumatic or hydraulic chambers which can be pressurised to produce lifting action. The lift action may, alternatively, be obtained mechanically by an eccentric mechanism.
