<p>The device for electrically powering an arc furnace (2, 3) includes furnace transformers (27) powering the electrodes (3) and means (6, 8, 9) of detecting an accidental short-circuit in the furnace. The furnace transformer (27) is connected to the network by a rotating gang formed of a motor (M) harnessed to at least one dynamo (A). The adjustment system (16, 18, 19) acts, on the basis of the measurement of the power delivered by the dynamo, on the energising (15) of the dynamo in order to vary the voltage delivered in a direction opposing the measured variations in power. The circuit (9) of the short-circuit detector is connected by the line (20) to the circuit (16) which acts on the energising (15). The invention applies to the metallurgy of steel. <IMAGE></p> |
