PURPOSE:To increase transmission compressibility by classifying character patterns into sub patterns, by converting respective sub patterns into codes with long run length according to appearance frequencies from highest to lowest, and by attaining the run-length coding of a string of converted codes. CONSTITUTION:In the system which transmit in bit patterns character patterns expressed by a matrix, the center unit is equipped with pattern allocation part 18 connected to processor 16 which converts sub patterns constituting character patterns into-bit patterns suitable for run length, and run-length coding part 19 which transmits a string of bit patterns converted by this allocation part 18 after run-length coding. Further, each terminal equipment is provided with run-length decoding part 23 which converts run-length codes transmitted from the center unit into original run data and allocation pattern decoding part 24 which converts run data into bit patterns; bit patterns are written to fixe positions of refresh memory 26 and the contents of memory 26 are read out repetedly and displayed by display unit 25. |
