PURPOSE:To make a halftone gravure plate of good tone reproducibility by a simple method by exposing and developing the gravure plate material having a photosetting type photosensitive resin layer through the use of a halftone positive and a gravure contact screen. CONSTITUTION:A lithographic or typographic halftone positive 2 with its film face being faced downward is superposed on a gravure plate material 1 comprising providing a photosetting type photosensitive resin layer 1b on a substrate 1a and is exposed and printed as shown by arrows 3 (Fig. 1) to form the unset portions 4 having the areas and depths corresponding to the dot areas of the halftone positive 2. Next, the halftone positive 2 is exchanged to a gravure contact screen 5 which is contacted and through which the gravure material is exposed and printed as shown by arrowa (Fig. 3) to form the unset portions 7 having the walls 6 of gravure cells (Fig. 4). Next, the resin of the unset portions 7 is washed away, after which the material is dried, whereby the cells 8 having the sizes and depths corresponding to the dot areas of the halftone positive 2 are formed. After the resin layer 1C is subjected to post-exposure and is allowed to set perfectly, whereby the machine plate is provided (Fig. 5). |
