<p>The progressively opening valve may be used to control a hydraulic feed, having a plunger action pilot in an axially reciprocating recoil sprung plug which is displaced by a hydraulic ram effect. The nose of the pilot, as defined by a radial flange, enters a hole in the plug base, its tail accommodating a piston in a two cell chamber. Fluid under pressure is fed to the leading chamber to start valve opening, the pilot lifting until radial nose drillings clear the plug base to allow a limited through flow. The flange then contacts a stop ring, further pilot movement now causing the plug to lift off its seat.</p> |
