<p>The method of sealing a resilient mouthpiece (4) into an opening in the top sheet (6) of a large can or similar metal container uses an intermediate ring (1, 2) and sealing ring (8). The intermediate ring is S shaped in section, with two semicircular bends. The edge of the sheet is also bent into a semicircular flange (7) which is forced inside one (2) of the bends of the S shaped part, with the sealing ring trapped between them. They are then clamped together. The other bend (1) of the S shaped part is then clamped around a circular beading (3) forming a rim on the mouthpiece part, gripping it.</p> |
