A steam generator, partic. intended for use in the heat transfer circuit of a pressurised water nuclear reactor for vaporisation of water by the prim. cooling liq. of the reactor, and comprising a vertical enclosure in which are a vaporisation space contg. a U tube bundle, a vapour collection chamber and a chamber for eliminating entrained liq., incorporates a drying chamber in the chamber for eliminating entrained water. The drying chamber comprises a steam drying structure surrounding the axis of the enclosure. This structure presents a number of vertical passages for the steam and defines in the upper part of the enclosure a peripheral space for distribution of steam in the passages and a central space for collection of the dried steam. Each passage is provided with baffles and opens at its lower end into a collection chamber. The assembly includes a pipe for discharging liq. over the cover of the vaporisation space and a receiver open at its upper end and filled with secondary liq. The discharge pipe communicates by its upper end with the collection chamber and with the central collection space and opens at its lower end in the receiver. The steam drying assembly has a simpler structure than that in existing steam generators, takes up less space and is more easily installed and dismantled.
