The tool is used in the machine cutting stone, comprising a revolvable wheel of which the circumference is notched to from two pronged teeth-like projections eac of which locates a cutter (4-6). The external edges of the teeth are grooved (2) to locate curved axles (3) on which the cutters are mounted, the grooves having restricted inlets producing an elastic pincer action by which the axle is retained. The grooves may have a three quarter circular section with rounded lips, the axle being forced into place, and the specific groove geometry depending on the elasticity of the material of which the wheel is made. a radial slit (7) may be cut in the groove invert to further enhance elasticity.
