Acoustically damped electric heating panel - has fixed and floating clips to accommodate differential expansion of element and base

The electric heating panel has a pressed metal base (401) made in two parts and enclosing the element (402). This is of the hairpin type and contacts the base to distribute its heat by diffusion. The element is held by two clips, each one clamping both legs of the element. One of the clips (403) is fixed rigidly (403a) to the panel by a nut and screw and prevent any relative movement. The other clip (404) has a floating mount and permits some relative movement between the element and its base; this prevents expansion stresses developing.
