Filled sack closing frame - has hooks on rod inside frame which stretch sack ends and are then rotated (NL 8.10.79)

The filled sack closing frame has a belt conveyor (5) across the bottom which positions the sack to be closed under a tube (7) across the top. This has hooks (39, 40) which are embedded in the side of the sack. A motor is operated to drive chains (12) at the sides. The hooks are moved against the force of a spring inside the tube so that the sack material is stretched on the side of the sack to be closed. The tube is then rotated so that the material is wound round the tube for an angle of between 90 and 200 degrees. This stretches the material in a direction transverse to the side of the sack to be closed thus closing that side of the sack.
