<p>Reactor for the prepn. of organic carbonates, esp. diallyl glycol carbonate (DAGC) comprises a pref. cylindrical vessel with a lateral wall and a bottom having at least the part directed towards the interior of the vessel concave, the bottom being displaceable and being attached to a motor-jack device to bring it in the open or closed position and also to rotate it in the open position. The reactor also includes a scraping piston which can be lowered inside the vessel to scrape its wall and then centrifuged on leaving the reactor, with the bottom open. Design allows the reaction mixt. to be evacuated at the end of the reaction to a chamber placed underneath the reactor, by opening the bottom. Further conditioning of the reaction mixt. to remove labile chlorine thus takes place in the lower chamber and the reactor is available for the next batch prepn. Particles adhering to the walls are removed by replacing the stirrer with the scraping piston which is then centrifuged. Particles adhering to the bottom are also removed by centrifuging the latter. Prodn. is thus increased fivefold, with a 93% yield of DAGC.</p> |
