PURPOSE:To obtain a curable resin having a wide molecular weight distribution and improved solubility, curability, capable of giving cured films having good workability, by esterifying an unsaturated carboxylic acid with an alkyl resin having an excess of hydroxyl group comprising a specific resinous polyol as one component. CONSTITUTION:An alkyl resin having an excess of hydroxyl group is obtained from (A) a hydroxyl group-comtaining resin prepared by (A) a hydroxyl group- containing resin prepared by reacting (a) a five-membered ring compound having an unsaturated conjugated double bond of the formula (R is 1-3C organic residue; m and n are integers, m+n=6) and/or a compound obtained through the Diels- Alder reaction with (b) a compound, e.g. allyl alcohol, having a polymerizable double bond and a hydroxyl group in the same molecule, and/or (B) a resin prepared by hydrogenerating only double bonds in ingredient (A) selectively, as part of the polyol component. |
