The filling shaft through which e.g. nuts are fed to the grinder opens into the grinding cylinder (12) which stands uprights. The drive shaft (15) of the grinding blade (16) is driven by an electric motor drive unit (19) in the housing. The outlet of the filling shaft is laterally off-set relative to the top opening of the cylinder (12) and passes into this opening by means of a slightly inclined horizontal channel. The food to be ground falls into the grinding cylinder through its own weight. An even grinding process is now possible without overloading the grinding cylinder.
