The instrument introduces and manoeuvres a laser beam in body cavities for medical purposes. It comprises a long thin tube (10) through which the beam passes, pref. in light-conductive fibre (11). At the distal end there is a lens (14). At the other end is a hand grip for the instrument (20), and means are included for varying the beam diameter on the tissue (1). A tube or speculum can be inserted in the body cavity; the instrument may be fitted inside it and it works in a mechanical or magnetic guide.
