<p>Veneer cutter comprises a rotary support roller over which the veneer is moved, and a thin blade with at least one cutting edge mounted rotatably above the roller about an axis running parallel to the roller. The cutting edge cuts through the veneer onto the roller, when the cutting edge passes over the roller during rotation of the blade. A second roller mounted above the blade moves parallel to the blade so that it is engaged by the other edge of the blade while the cutting edge is cutting through the veneer. Control means control rotation of the blade to cut the veneer at a given point, and a brake stops the blade after the cutting edge has finished cutting through the veneer.</p> |
