Textile hose fabric is washed by feeding it in web form to a spreader, wetting the hose spread into a tubular configuration, folding the hose into a web and discharging the web. The advantage is the hose can be washed also internally. Pref. the washing is carried out by spraying the interior of the spread hose with washing suds discharged from nozzles forming part of the spreader constituted by a cylindrical cage. Sprayed suds are removed by radially outward action. Pref. the washed fabric is gathered by a ring which constitutes also a rinsing device before the fabric is spread once more over a cage which forms part of a rinsing stage. Following rinsing the spread hose is gathered again into a web by passing it first through a ring and through a pair of squeegee rollers.
