PURPOSE:To realize a size coexistent mode and to reduce miscopying that a small-sized document is copied on a large-sized transfer paper by limiting document size to two sizes in which width is the same and length is different and immediately outputting a signal showing large size in the case of judging that the document is not small-sized even in the midst of detecting the length. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 16, that is, a detecting means for detecting the width (length in a direction orthogonally crossed with a feeding direction) of the document 2 and the leading and the trailing edges of the document 2 is provided just before a carrying part 8, and an encoder 15 for measuring the time of an interval between the leading and the trailing edges of the document 2 is provided coaxially with one pullout roller 7. Then, this feeder has a control function that the width of the document 2 is detected to limit the document size to two sizes in which width is the same and length is different, and the signal showing the large size is outputted as soon as it is known that the document size is not small even in the midst of detecting the length, that is, before confirming that the document size is large. |
