SWITCHING ARRANGEMENT FOR TRANSMITTING SYNCHRONOUSLY AND ASYNCHRONOUSLY OCCURRING DATA

A plesiochronous data transmission system is described via which asynchronously occurring data as well as synchronously occurring data can be transmitted. A submultiplexer is provided at the transmitting end to render asynchronous data synchronous under the control of a timing signal. At the receiving end a corresponding submultiplexer is provided to supply the data to asynchronous data channels. To prevent bit slip in the transmission of the asynchronous data, the receiving-end submultiplexer is controlled by a timing signal which substantially corresponds to that which controls the transmitting-end submultiplexer.
