The vehicle (1) has a loading platform (6) secured to the vehicle chassis (3) by at least two parallel pivoted rods (13, 14). A cylinder actuator (16) is arranged between the platform and the chassis to provide vertical lift, and rods forming a parallelogram linkage. One (14) of the rods contains two cylinder actuators (17, 18) arranged in series. The first cylinder (17) enables the platform to be placed in a horizontal position whilst the second (18) makes it possible to place it vertically, the operation of the cylinder being coordinated with that of the lifting cylinder (16). The diameter of the cylinder (17) is that of cylinder (16) such that when they are energised simultaneously the cylinder (17) completes its stroke before (16) commences.
