Rectangular-wave generator with pulse counter - used to define start and end of second wave phase shifted w.r.t. first wave

The rectangular wave generator produces a second wave shifted in phase w.r.t. a first. A counter is started when the leading or trailing edges of the first wave appear. The counter counts a given number of pulses from an oscillator. At the end of its count the counter produces outputs that act as front and end markers for the phase-shifted second wave. The first wave is derived from the oxillator's output. The oscillator is a h.f. crystal oscillator. Alternatively, the first wave can be obtained from another source which is coupled to the oscillator.
