Multicore cable with reduced cross-talk - has conductors helically laid over earthed central core and with copper tape lapping

The cable is intended for asymmetric signal transmission. A centre core (1) fabricated from insulating man-made material (2) is lapped with copper tape (3) and maintained at earth potential. Fourteen copper conductors (6) insulated with tetra fluorethylene (7) and one bare copper drain wire (5) are placed radially in contact with the copper tape and laid up helically around the centre. The insulated conductors are paired one conductor serves for signal transmission, the other conductor being connected to earth. The whole assembly is lapped with copper tape (8) and covered with an extruded outer sheath of man made insulating material. The cable is intended to replace the ribbon type low crosstalk cable presently in common use.
